Planning for the Early Years Foundation Stage

As an early years childcare provider we follow the Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) which is a document outlining how the government and early years professionals describe the time in your child’s life between birth and five years.

The framework sets out how early years practitioners should work with children and their families to support their development and learning. It describes how your child should be kept safe and cared for and how all concerned can make sure that your child achieves the most that they can in their earliest years of life.

We would like to stress that the emphasis is not on formalisation and structure of learning but learning through play, fun and discovery.

Alongside the core staples of nursery activities we make available to the children, we offer different opportunities for them to learn and become involved, depending upon their individual needs and interests. In addition, to ensure that all areas of learning and development are experienced by the children we supplement these opportunities with weekly adult initiated/led activities.

Not only does our Curriculum follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, but it is also underpinned by strong links to the outside learning environment and the Montessori Philosophy.

Longacre Childcare believe that the Montessori method of education has a great deal to offer the development of each and every child. Its application enables our children to leave us for school with all foundations required to become very successful independent learners.

Our beautiful outdoor learning environments provide the opportunity for the children to extend the large range of educational challenges which are provided indoors.

Staff receive ongoing training in relation to all aspects of curriculum delivery, in order to maximize the outcomes achieved by the children in their care.
